Towari Dzutruden, located adjacent to the government offices of Qudeng Township within Mangkang County and 80 kilometers from the county town, holds a significant place in Tibetan culture and spirituality. In Tibetan, Towari Dzutruden means “A place where one receives blessings, purification, and happiness upon visitation.”
Legend has it that this stupa was constructed by Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) to ward off demons and bring auspiciousness and happiness to the beings of the snowy plateau. It is considered one of the three famous stupas in Tibetan Buddhism. Towari Dzutruden is revered alongside Nepal’s “Boudhanath Stupa” and “Qudeng Gakong” within Deqin County of Yunnan, marking its religious significance and historical value.
