Applying for a Chinese visa in Nepal is managed by the Chinese Embassy in Nepal in coordination with the Kathmandu Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC).

Who Can Apply in Nepal?

Applicants must be physically present in Nepal when applying.

  • Third-country nationals may begin the online process before arriving in Nepal.
  • A valid Nepali visa or entry stamp must be uploaded before final submission.
  • Nepali citizens require a visa to enter China, as there is no mutual visa exemption for ordinary passports.

Fingerprint Exemptions

Fingerprint collection is exempt for:

  • Children under 14
  • Adults over 70
  • Applicants whose fingerprints were collected within the last 5 years at the same center
  • Applicants with uncollectible fingerprints
  • Single- or double-entry visas (stay up to 180 days)

General Required Documents

All applicants must prepare:

  • Original passport (valid at least 6 months with 2 or more blank visa pages)
  • Photocopy of passport bio-data page
  • Printed and signed online application form (with confirmation page)
  • One recent color photo (48mm × 33mm, white background, taken within 6 months)
  • Proof of legal stay in Nepal (valid Nepali visa for non-Nepalis)

Additional Requirements for Former Chinese Citizens

  • Previous Chinese passport (original and copy for first-time applicants)
  • Name change documents, if applicable
