Gurla Mandhata Peak: The Majestic Three Peaks
Gurla Mandhata, also known as Gurla Mandhata Peak, is situated at the border of Gar County and Zanda County in the Ngari region of Tibet. With an elevation of 6,112 meters, it is known locally as the “Mountain of the Three Peaks,” a name that highlights its imposing triple summits. The mountain is cloaked in snow year-round, adding to its mystique and grandeur. At its base, expansive natural pastures provide grazing grounds for a variety of livestock including yaks, hybrid yaks, cows, and Tibetan sheep, making it a vital area for local herders.
Nacha Mountain: The Dark Flower of Ngari
Nacha Mountain, also referred to as “Namoza,” translates to “Black Flower Mountain” in English. Located in the southeast of Gar County within the Ngari Prefecture, Nacha Mountain is celebrated for its natural grasslands. The lush, water-rich pastures at the foot of the mountain support a wide range of livestock such as yaks, hybrid yaks, cows, sheep, goats, and horses, contributing significantly to the local pastoral economy.
Both Gurla Mandhata Peak and Nacha Mountain are emblematic of the natural beauty and rich biodiversity found in the Ngari region of Tibet. These mountains not only serve as stunning backdrops to the rugged Tibetan landscape but also play a crucial role in supporting the livelihoods of local communities through their pastoral resources.
