Detailed 14-Day Itinerary

Day 1–2: Chengdu and Giant Pandas

Arrive in Chengdu and explore the city at leisure. Visit Kuanzhai Alley and Jinli Street, and enjoy authentic Sichuan hotpot in the evening.

On Day 2, visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding to see baby and adult pandas. In the afternoon, explore Wuhou Shrine and Du Fu Thatched Cottage for a glimpse of Sichuan culture.

Take an evening flight to Lhasa and check into an oxygen-equipped hotel. After arrival, rest well, avoid showers, drink plenty of water, and limit physical activity.


Day 3–4: Lhasa Acclimatization and Cultural Exploration

Spend the first day in Lhasa adjusting to the altitude. Walk slowly along Barkhor Street and enjoy sweet tea in a local teahouse.

Visit Jokhang Temple, the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism. In the evening, photograph the Potala Palace from Yaowang Mountain Viewpoint.

On Day 4, tour the Potala Palace, including the White Palace, Red Palace, and sacred stupas. In the afternoon, visit Sera Monastery and watch the famous monk debates.

Stay overnight in Lhasa.


Day 5: Lhasa to Yamdrok Yumtso and Gyantse

Drive over Gampa La Pass for a panoramic view of Yamdrok Yumtso, one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes. The lake’s turquoise water stretches across the plateau.

Continue to Karola Glacier for a close view of its massive ice formations. Arrive in Gyantse for overnight stay.


Day 6–7: Gyantse and Shigatse

Visit Gyantse Dzong Fortress, a symbol of the town’s heroic history. Explore Pelkhor Chode Monastery and the famous Kumbum Stupa.

Drive to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet. Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen Lama and one of the six great monasteries of the Gelug school.

Prepare for the Everest journey by checking equipment and supplies.


Day 8–9: Everest Base Camp Adventure

Depart early and cross Gyatso La Pass before reaching Gawula Pass. From here, travelers can view five 8,000-meter peaks, including Mount Everest.

Transfer by eco-bus to Everest Base Camp (5,200m). Visit Rongbuk Monastery and take photos with the 8,848-meter monument. In the evening, stay in a tent at base camp and photograph the Milky Way under a clear Himalayan sky.

Wake early to witness the golden sunrise over Mount Everest. Return to Shigatse for overnight rest.


Day 10: Old city of Sakya

Drive toward Sakya, passing Mount Lhotse, the 8,000-meter peak. Visit Sakya Monastery, the largest buddhist library in the Tibet,.


Day 11–12: Northern Tibetan Grasslands and Namtso

Travel across the vast grasslands of northern Tibet toward Damxung. On Day 12, visit Namtso Lake, known as the “Heavenly Lake.” Walk around Tashi Peninsula and enjoy views of the Nyainqentanglha Mountains reflected in the clear water.

Return to Damxung for overnight stay.


Day 13–14: Return to Lhasa and Chengdu

Drive back to Lhasa through open grasslands. Enjoy free time for shopping and photography. Celebrate the journey with a Tibetan dinner.

On Day 14, transfer to Lhasa Gonggar Airport and fly back to Chengdu.
