The Tara Stone and Architectural Wonders in Yamdrok Lake
This sacred monastery is named after a distinct, naturally formed stone that resembles the Twenty-One Taras, a venerated figure in Buddhism. This “Field of Blessings” stone is said to be visible only to those who are spiritually destined. Yongbu Dor’s key architectural features include the Labrang, Rongkang, Dukhang, Mongkhang, Terma Khang, and a striking three-tiered Red Palace. Within these walls reside esteemed statues of Sakyamuni Buddha, Vajradhara, and Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), along with artefacts of immense historical, cultural, and artistic value.
