The Tibetan Azaleas: A Glimpse of Nature’s Grandeur

Tibet boasts a rich diversity of azaleas, with a staggering 190 different species. These splendid flowers predominantly thrive in mountain coniferous forests, deciduous broad-leaved forests, and alpine meadow zones, at elevations ranging from 3,000 to 5,500 meters. Rhododendron, an iconic alpine plant in Tibet, exhibits a striking array of forms, from diminutive shrubs to imposing tree-like structures. Its captivating flowers, ranging in hues from pristine white and delicate pink to vibrant red and rich magenta, also include shades of yellow.

Blossom Spectacle from April to June

The spectacle begins in mid-April and continues until late June each year. Rhododendrons grace the mountains with a breathtaking cascade of colours. This natural extravaganza unfolds at various altitudes in southeastern Tibet, encompassing regions like Nyingchi, Zayu, Bomi, Milin, Medog, and Cuona.
